Egypt: Day 5
September 20, 2022

Above: In the main hall of the much smaller Temple of Nefertari, which was dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of the sky, music,
dance, love, sexuality, and maternal care. The ladies on the pillars stole the hairstyles of the Ronettes. Maybe the other way around.

1 and 2 show the front of the Temple of Nefertari ... on each side, the middle statues were both Nefertari, but the other four ... all are statues of
Ramesses II. On Nefertari's temple. But it was only the second time a queen had her own temple (the first was Nefertiti), and it was the first time
a queen had statues the same size as her pharaoh ... normally the statues went up to his knees.

3 to 11 show carvings within the Temple of Nefertari, but many of them feature Ramesses, and many involve battles and violence.
3 and 4 ... Ramesses kills his enemy, while Nefertari looks on.
5 ... Queen Nefertari as goddess Hathor looks on the god Osiris, while his brother Set, the god of Chaos, Deserts and Storms, looks the other way.
7 ... seated god Ra interacts with the god Osiris.
8 ... seated god Ra interacts with Ramesses.
9 ... Queen Nefertari is blessed by the goddesses Hathor and Isis.
11 ... Nefertari watches Ramesses with Hathor.
