Paris: Day 2
June 12, 2022

On Day 2, I started the day going to the Jardin du Ranelagh and then the Musée Marmottan Monet, featuring not only Monet, but many of fellow impressionists, especially Berthe Morisot. Afterward, a bit of hiking through the Bois de Boulogne, a large park about two and a half times the size of Central Park. Then, it's a subway ride back to Île de la Cité to visit the Archeological Crypt, which is underground right in front of the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Finally before and after dinner, visits to the Église Saint-Séverin, not that far from Notre-Dame, and to Eglise Notre Dame de l'Assomption in the Montparnasse area.

Above: The Musée Marmottan Monet. Originally a Duke's hunting lodge, the house at the edge of the Bois de Boulogne was purchased by
Jules Marmottan in 1882 who later left it to his son Paul Marmottan, who made bequeathed it to be a museum, which opened in 1934.
