Paris: Day 1
June 11, 2022

After more than two years, I finally had a chance to travel overseas, and ended up in Paris for 8 days. On Day 1, I spent some time in the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Tuileries garden and Louvre area, then on to the Pont Neuf and the Île de la Cité. Here are some pictures from the first day.

7 to 10 are views of The Luxembourg Palace and the Grand Bassin in front of it, with lots of little sail boats to be rented. In 1611, Marie de' Medici,
the widow of Henry IV and the regent for King Louis XIII, decided to build a palace in imitation of the Pitti Palace in her native Florence. She bought
the Hôtel du Luxembourg (today the Petit Luxembourg) and began construction of the new palace. It was later refurbished into a legislative building
from 1799-1805 and has been the French senate since 1958.
