1 is our tour guide Phillip, who said his name is Marco if we had any complaints about the tour.

2 and 3 show the dry levada along our walk.

4 shows a farmer in the hills working on his crop.

5 shows the non-high tech gate which is opened to the fields below. Farmers do not pay for water by volume ... they pay for the number of hours they accessed the water for their fields.

6 and 7 show the levada by the water terminal, which regulates the flow of water into the valley and towns below.

8 is a clay carving on the roof of a house near the levada.

9 and 10 show the group continuing up the mountainside by the levada.

11 shows Phillip with Eucalyptus leaves. Eucalyptus trees smell great, but are pigs with water, and tend to crowd out and kill other trees in their area.
