1000 Islands Cruise / Prince Edward County / Trenton
July 9-10, 2025

I went to Trenton to visit my friend Cathy O'Brien. We went to Prince Edward County to visit the Wellington market and three wineries ... Sandbanks, Keint-He and Broken Stone.

The next day we took the 1000 Islands Cruise from Brockville's Blockhouse Island, which is no longer an island sincce 1860. It once was a railway shipping yard, and is now a peninsula for tours and mainly pleasure boat docks, a park and restaurant. We started by going along the Canadian coast by millionaires row .... Brockville once had the most millionaires per capita in Canada, and still has a good number of them.

There are an estimated 1864 islands among the 1000 Islands. Lots of islands, more comorants, seagulls and Canada Geese lounging on rock mini-islands. Brockville purchased 12 islands from the Indigenous people at about $50 per island. The smallest islands in the 1000 Islands, even ones you can't really build on, generally go now for at least half a million. The Canadian government also bought over a century ago, and own 7 islands, which form Thousand Islands National Park, which have secluded bays for kayaks and boats, and allow camping and picnics by the river.
