Madeira Island

Above: The Ribeira Brava beach, looking southward.

1 to 4 shows us back in the van driving north down the mountain towards the coast.

5 shows us arriving in the north central village of Sao Vicente.

6 to 11 show views along the north coast of Madeira island, including abandoned homes. Both tour guides talked about a lot of Madeiran young people
not wanting to take up farming as their vocation, instead preferring the relative excitement and jobs in Funchal, or somewhere in Portugal or the EU.
When older parents pass away, the houses are sometimes left abandoned if they can't be sold, and in the smaller towns and villages, sometimes they can't.
The prices for homes here are often excellent, but demand for homes is primarly close to Funchal.
