Egypt: Day 4
September 19, 2022

Above: The view from our boat of the Philae Marina, on the First Cataract of the Nile between the Low and High Aswan Dams, going to the Philae Temple.

1 to 3 show a little monument and building on the way to the Philae Temple.

4 and 5 show the First Cataract of the Nile, and Jazirat Awwad or Crocodile Island.

6 and 7 show the aggessive sellers at the Philae Marina, who jostle, hassle, walk alongside trying to shove products at passersby. Not unique to
Philae, our group and any other visitors were forced to walk past many of them at every temple, museum, village, market or site we visited.

8 to 11 show the boat ride to Agilkia Island, where the Philae Temple was moved in the 1960's from the submerged portion of Philae Island.
Philae means Love ... eg. Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. So this was originally on Love Island.
