Egypt: Day 2
September 17, 2022

Above: Fellow traveler Robbin looks down over Giza.

1 is one of three much smaller pyramids, originally housing the remains of Khafre's children and Queens.

2 to 5 show us moving in the bus past the Pyramid of Khafre to the Pyramid of Menkaure. Note the huge gash in the Pyramid of Menkaure ...
In AD 1196, Saladin's son and the Sultan of Egypt, attempted to demolish the pyramids, starting with that of Menkaure. But they found it almost
as expensive and difficult to destroy as it was to build. They could only remove one or two stones each day. So the gave up after 8 months.

7 shows the souvenir market there ... at every major temple or site to visit, dozens of relentless souvenir sellers sweet talked, manipulated, jostled,
occasionally grabbed and often chased after visitors to try to sell their goods. Some were kids under 10 years old who could do sad eyes on cue.

8 to 11 shows a panoramic view of the three main, and three smaller pyramids.
