Above: A view of Athens from the quiet neighbourhood of Anafiotika where you can't hear any of the noise and bustle of the city. The tiny neighborhood of Athens, part of the old historical neighborhood called Plaka,
on the northerneast side of the Acropolis hill. It was originally built for construction workers from Anafi, but by 1922 it began to house refugees from Asia Minor (Turkey). Only 45 houses remain from the neighbourhood.

1 to 4 show Plaka, the old historical district of Athens, including the Byzantine Church of Ayia Aikaterini (3), built in the 11th century.

5 to 8 show Anafiotika neighbourhood with the Church of Agios (Saint) Georgios of the Rock, and views from it over Athens.

9 and 10 show more stray cats running around Anafiotika.
