St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Brampton, Ontario

RAP Awards
June 11, 2012

The Aquinas cafeteria was electric with slightly crazed refugees from the 1980's. Axl Rose and Slash were on hand. Olivia Newton John was physically spotted - several times. Michael Jackson, Eurythmics, Madonna and other retro tuneage was pumped through the caf speakers. The St. Thomas Aquinas regional arts program students and their friends and family members were on hand to dress up, eat copious amounts of health food and see their friends win leadership and MVP awards in Fine Arts, Drama, Vocal Music, Dance and Instrumental Music. Each of the performing disciplines grade 12 classes presented a final act to the audience, prior to their discipline's awards presentation. The vocal music grade 12's sang an accapella Gospel medley. The drama class presented a day in the life of a movie soundstage where things were not going as the chair-throwing director had hoped. The dance class provided an elegant dance on stage. The final performance was a rousing instrumental music jam of Santana's Oye Como Va, and then they cranked it up even more with a stellar version of the Ides of March hit Vehicle.
