On January 14, 2005, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cardinals traveled to cross-town rival St.
Marguerite D'Youville for the Panther's 3rd Annual Volleyball Tournament. With 2 divisions
totalling 10 teams, the Cardinals finished first in their division, dropping only 1 set.
In the semi-finals, we faced Coach Picicci's alma mater Holy Name of Mary Royals. Dropping
the first set, the Cardinals came back to take the next two sets, and the match,
in convincing fashion.
In the finals, Aquinas faced the host St. Marguerite D'Youville Panthers. Losing the
first set 25-19, and down 20-12 in the second, the Cardinals came back from the brink,
winning the second set 27-25, and then taking the third and final set 15-7, thereby
winming the championship.
