Santorini (Thira)
July 17, 2017

Above: On the southern coast of Santorini, near the Red Beach. Not to be confused with the Red Wedding. No blood was spilled.

1 show a wide view of the Akrotiri site and roof. The original roof collapsed in 2005, killing one visitor and injuring several. It is estimated the excavated site is only 3-5% of the total city buried in ash.
Excavations has gone slower than anticipated because the Greek government cut off funds due to its Euro crisis. Private funds are now being used to continue the work.

3 to 11 are views around Kokkini or Kokini Beach (spelling depends on where you read) known as Red Beach due to the dark red rocks in the area.
