On Day 3, Dr. J jumped into his rental car and drove the winding Hana Highway, a 37 km. stretch of winding highway on the north-east part of the island rainforest that takes over 2 hours to drive, without stops, because of numerous one lane bridges and stretches of road, over 600 individual turns. Highlights include the Seven Sacred Pools of O'heo Gulch, and the Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach and lava tube.

Below: Pictures 1 to 13 show the quite nice hike through bamboo, interesting flowers and even a banyan tree on the way to Twin Falls, about 2 miles into the Hana Highway. The flowers pictures 5 and 6 are not painted - they grow that way.
