Above: The Amphitheatre, where gladiators fought and died, and where inter-city competitions took place. It was closed for a 10 year period after a particularly brutal fight, not between the competitors, but between the citizens of both towns, with numerous dead and many injuries. But gladiators dying, not a problem.
