These pictures show views within the Basilica Catedral Santa Maria de la Encarnacion. Of note in pictures 7 and 8, this painting was commissioned in Europe for the cathedral and brought over by ship. Before reaching the island, the ship sank but the painting was rescued and brought to the cathedral. Picture 10 is the remains of a prominent church leader in Santo Domingo in the late 19th, early 20th centuries - Archbishop Merino.
