The Other Side of the River
June 3, 2011

World Vision has created "The Other Side of the River", with music by Brandon Foreman and Glen Barkman, and book and lyrics by Dennis Hassell. The musical highlighs the inequities between the haves and the have-nots of the world, and chose St. Thomas Aquinas to workshop the play, selecting performers to sing, dance and act in it, plus students to create the sets and costumes used. The story involves the House of Mor, with vast stretches of land, oppulent home and untold wealth, and on the other side of the river, the Houses of Little, Less and None, fishing the river, and tending to meagre crops just to survive, and a boy and a girl from each side who meet, fall in love and vow to be together despite the objections from their friends and family on both sides of the river, and maybe change the way things are, the first of four presentations. Here are pictures from the opening night performance.
